Bruichladdich is one of the cool kids of Islay, the young hipster of the whisky world if you will (but perhaps with more substance – no offence hipsters). They are a distillery to keep an eye on due to their constant innovations involving everything from the Octomore range that boasts to be the peatiest whisky in the whole world) to experimenting with heritage varieties of barley that they try to grow on Islay (which is not an easy task giving the rather unforgiving climate there).
The Classic Laddie is a bold whisky in bold packaging and is meant to reflect the house style of their unpeated whiskies. This is a non-age statement bottle so we don’t know what the minimum age used was HOWEVER if you’d like to get your geek on, each bottle has a “transparency recipe code” located on the bottle that you can use to find out exactly what went into your bottle of the Classic Laddie. It’s tangy, lively and bottled at 50% ABV.
